Travel Agency Website in Bydgoszcz – Cross Travel Case Study

A travel agency that serves both companies and private clients has to do two things on its website: show the full range of services and make it easy to reach an adviser. For Cross Travel in Bydgoszcz we prepared a website that arranges a broad offer, from airline tickets to boat charter, into a few clear pages: crosstravel.pl. In this case study we describe how we approached the design of a travel agency website and what actually works on it.

In short: a travel agency website in Bydgoszcz

  • Client: Cross Travel s.c., a travel agency from Bydgoszcz
  • Industry: tourism, business travel, airline tickets
  • Scope: site structure, layout design, a custom WordPress theme, service pages, a contact form, a cookie banner
  • Technologies: WordPress, a custom theme, a layout built in Blocs on Bootstrap, the ka_cookie plugin
  • Website: crosstravel.pl

The challenge: a broad offer on one website

According to the information on the website, Cross Travel has been on the market since 2013, handles business and private travel, and its team includes people with airline experience. The offer is broad: airline tickets, hotels, transfers, travel insurance, car hire, conference rooms, company events and boat charter. Such variety cannot be squeezed into a single page, because someone buying group tickets is looking for something entirely different from a company team-building organiser.

The agency therefore needed a website that:

  • says straight away what it does and directs visitors to the right department,
  • builds trust with companies and institutions for which business travel is an everyday matter,
  • lets people quickly ask for an offer, because quotes for group tickets and company trips are individual,
  • can be extended with new services, such as boat charter, without rebuilding the whole.

It was also crucial to distinguish two types of audience. A business client wants to know that the agency will handle tickets, hotels, transfers and insurance in one place. A private client more often asks about a specific trip or cruise. The website had to speak to both groups without merging them into one.

How we worked on the project

We run such a project in stages to limit the number of corrections at the end:

  • Conversation and organising the offer: we establish which services matter most and who buys them.
  • Structure and design: a map of pages, the home page layout, colours based on the logo.
  • Implementation: a WordPress theme, pages, the form, the cookie banner, the mobile version.
  • Testing and launch: checking navigation, the form and appearance on different devices.

The solution: a home page as a guide to the services

The website runs on WordPress with a custom theme. We built the page layouts in Blocs on top of Bootstrap, which gives a responsive grid and a consistent look on phone and computer. Content is edited in the WordPress panel, so the agency can change descriptions and add news itself.

Slogan, sections and links to departments

The first screen is a large photo with the message “Tickets, company trips, charters” and a contact button. Below are blocks leading to four departments: airline tickets for all carriers, company events, business travel and boat charter. Each has a short description and a “Discover more” button, and separate pages develop the topic. The home page also lists services for business and individual clients and links to insurance: cancellation cost insurance and travel insurance.

The texts are written in the language of benefits and say plainly what the client can expect: “no hidden costs”, “an individual approach”, “one place for your ticket, hotel, car and insurance”. These are the agency’s claims, as the website says it values honesty and transparent terms, not our results. Our task was to give them a form that quickly reaches the reader: short paragraphs, clear headings and one main button in each section.

It is worth noting that this agency does not sell tickets through a shopping cart. Quotes are individual, so the website is designed as an enquiry site, not a shop, and does not promise features the agency does not need.

Service pages for companies and individual clients

The pages business travel, company events and airline tickets for all carriers share a simple pattern: a heading with a promise, a short description of the scope and a call to get in touch at the bottom of the page. The emphasis is on the language of benefits, because the person responsible for trips in a company is looking above all for assurance that one account manager will take care of everything.

Boat charter as a new service in the offer

The most extensive page is the motor boat charter. It describes the QX615 vessel: the equipment, technical data (length, width, weight, crew), electric drive, a roof with photovoltaic panels and the information that, according to the website, you can sail without a licence. There is also a gallery of events held on the Bydgoszcz Canal and “Book” buttons that lead straight to a separate online booking service. For people who want to book a date online, a separate service was built, which we describe in a second case study: an online electric boat rental.

Contact and enquiry form

The contact page gathers everything in one place: the office address with opening hours, several phone numbers, email addresses for the tickets and charter departments, and a form with fields for name, phone number, email address and message. The form requires consent to data processing before sending. It also has prepared messages for a successful submission and for a sending error.

Everything is also prepared for phones. The Bootstrap grid rearranges columns for a smaller screen, and the navigation has a menu button for narrow views. For an agency that clients often turn to about an urgent flight or a change of date, what matters more than flashy animations is that contact details and opening hours can be found in a few seconds, even on the go.

SEO, GDPR and security

From what can be seen in the site’s code, the website has separate topic pages with readable addresses (for example /podroze-biznesowe, /czarter-lodzi), which helps search engines recognise the topic of each one. Offer descriptions are written in natural language, without keyword stuffing. Images in the sections load lazily, which lightens the first load of the page.

In the area of privacy, the website has a cookie banner with a choice of categories: necessary, analytics and marketing, as well as pages with a privacy policy and a cookie policy. The banner is handled by our ka_cookie plugin. A mandatory consent to data processing was added to the form.

The content of the website can be developed further, for example with a blog of advice for travelling companies or separate pages for the most searched destinations. Such a direction makes sense, because it lets you answer clients’ questions before they call and gradually build search visibility for phrases related to airline tickets and business travel in Bydgoszcz. Like any SEO content, it requires regularity, and results come with time.

Technologies used in the project

  • WordPress with the custom “CrossTravel” theme,
  • Blocs and Bootstrap as the basis of the responsive layout,
  • the ka_cookie plugin for cookie consents,
  • lazy loading of images and a carousel on the home page.

The result: a clear business card for the agency with quick contact

Cross Travel has a website that organises a broad range of services, presents them to business and private clients in an accessible form and directs them to contact by phone, email and the form. We do not give numbers of enquiries or conversions because we do not have access to them, and the quality of such a website is best judged by using it yourself. The structure also made it possible to add a new service, boat charter, without changing the whole site.

For us it is an example that a travel agency website does not always need a booking engine. Sometimes a well-arranged offer, clear department names and direct contact with an adviser who knows the subject are enough, and more elaborate tools can be plugged in where they make sense.

Who this solution is for

A similar website works well for travel agencies and event agencies, companies organising business trips, local service providers with several lines of offer, and anywhere the client gets an individual quote and first asks, then buys.

Frequently asked questions about a travel agency website

How much does a travel agency website cost?

The price depends on the scope. A simple presentation website with a few service pages and a form costs less than a site with online booking, payments or integrations with carriers’ systems. We prepare a quote after a conversation about what the agency is actually meant to sell through the website.

Does a travel agency website need an online booking system?

Not always. An agency that sells group airline tickets and organises company trips on request will often make better use of a clear offer and a simple contact form. Quotes are individual here, so what matters is quick contact with an adviser, not a cart. Online booking makes sense where the offer is fixed and can be described with a calendar, as with boat rental.

How do you describe several different services on a website without losing the client?

It is worth building the home page as a guide: a short description of each service and a button to a separate page. Each page answers one query, for example “business travel” or “boat charter”, so the client quickly gets to where they want, and the search engine gets a clear topical signal.

Does a travel agency website need cookie consent?

Yes, if it uses analytics or marketing cookies. The Cross Travel website has a banner with a choice of cookie categories (necessary, analytics, marketing) and pages with a privacy policy and a cookie policy. We always tailor the specific configuration to the tools the client actually deploys.

Can a new service, such as charter, be added to the website later?

Yes. Cross Travel started with tickets and business services, and over time added boat charter, which has its own page and photos on the website. Such a structure can be extended without rebuilding the whole site, and for larger needs it can be connected to a dedicated service, as with the separate online boat rental.

A travel agency website in Bydgoszcz: order in the offer and quick contact

A travel agency from Bydgoszcz that serves companies and individual clients has two tasks on its website: to show a broad offer and to shorten the path to an adviser. In this project the home page works as a guide, and each department has a separate page with its own address. This helps a client looking for tickets or boat charter, and at the same time gives the search engine a clear topical signal. For a travel agency, local phrases such as “airline tickets Bydgoszcz” are a natural direction for content, but they require regular publishing.

Not every service business needs a cart. When quotes are individual, a clear offer and an enquiry form work better; online booking makes sense where it can be described with a calendar, as in the Cross Travel Boat rental. We discuss layout and navigation principles in the article on website design, and the development of regional content in the text on local SEO.
