A case study of an online shop with Canva templates, planners, ebooks and graphic services: WordPress, WooCommerce, Stripe payments and delivery of digital products at twojagrafika.pl.

A digital product has no warehouse and no courier, so the whole shop has to explain itself: what do I get, which program do I edit it in and when will I have it in my account. For the Bydgoszcz brand Twoja Grafika we prepared an online shop with templates for editing in Canva, planners, ebooks and an offer of graphic services and visualisations: twojagrafika.pl. In this case study we describe how we built a digital product shop on WordPress and WooCommerce that combines ready-made templates with a bespoke offer.

In short: a shop with Canva templates and graphic services

  • Client: Twoja Grafika, Bydgoszcz
  • Industry: digital products, graphics and visualisations for small businesses and private individuals
  • Scope: WordPress theme, a WooCommerce shop with digital products, themed categories, a page for graphic services and visualisations, a blog with guides, a newsletter, a cookie banner, online payments
  • Technologies: WordPress, WooCommerce, a custom theme, Stripe
  • Website: twojagrafika.pl

The challenge: two different businesses on one website

Twoja Grafika sells two completely different things on one website. On one side are ready-made products: Canva templates for massage therapists and nannies, a wedding planner, planners, apps for organising the home and social media photos, at prices from a few dozen PLN. On the other are made-to-order services: graphics for companies and visualisations of flats, rooms and buildings, priced individually. A shop customer wants to add a product to the cart quickly, while a visualisation customer wants to talk.

The website therefore needed:

  • an order in the offer that lets people reach the right category quickly,
  • a clear explanation of how buying a digital product works,
  • a separate path for services with individual quotes and contact,
  • online payments and compliance with the requirements for cookies and shop terms,
  • a look consistent with the brand: a pink and violet colour scheme and a black logo in a circle.

How we worked on the project

  • Offer analysis: organising products into categories and separating the shop from the services.
  • Theme design and implementation: the home page layout, two-level navigation, product pages and service pages.
  • Shop configuration: digital products, cart, payments via Stripe, terms and the privacy policy.
  • Content and testing: descriptions explaining the purchase, going through the cart on different devices.

The solution: a digital shop with a separate path for services

The website runs on WordPress with WooCommerce and a theme prepared for the brand. The home page says at once what the shop is: the slogan “Beautiful designs at a click”, two buttons (View the shop and Visualisations) and a scrolling bar with product categories, such as Canva templates, planners, ebooks and personalised posters.

Categories and navigation

The menu has two levels. The upper one leads to the most important places (Bestsellers, Shop, Visualisations, Graphic services and Contact), and the lower one divides the offer by theme: New arrivals, Grow Your Business, Lifestyle/Organisation, For Special Occasions, Visualisations and Guides. This way, someone looking for a template for their own business and someone planning a wedding end up in different places without searching the whole catalogue.

Digital product page

A product page, for example Canva Templates for Massage Therapists, shows a large preview of the set, the price, a description with a specific use and an “Add to cart” button. The description explains that the product is digital, the buyer receives an access link and the templates can be edited in the free version of Canva. Information about the licence (personal use) and about no refunds for digital products appears before purchase, not only in the terms.

How buying a digital product works

The home page has a “How does it work?” section with three steps: choose a product, pay, then download and edit. The buyer sees at once that there is no waiting for a parcel, and digital products are delivered by email right after the order is paid. Payments are handled by Stripe, so the process follows the familiar WooCommerce cart pattern.

Graphic services and visualisations with individual quotes

The graphic services page is completely different from the shop: there is no cart here, but an “individual quote” icon, a list of things that can be ordered (Instagram and Facebook posts, sales flyers and business cards, price lists, loyalty cards, sales offers) and an invitation to get in touch. The Visualisations section works in a similar way, divided into visualisations of flats, rooms and buildings.

Guides, newsletter and cookies

The shop has a Guides section with articles, for example “How to plan a wedding step by step”. The website has a newsletter sign-up form with a separate consent to marketing information. The cookie banner lets you accept all files or choose only the necessary ones and leads to the privacy policy.

Compliance and security

  • Shop terms and privacy policy: separate pages linked from the footer and the cookie banner.
  • Information about digital products: the licence, no refunds and the method of delivery are described before purchase.
  • Payments: handled by Stripe, an online payment operator that processes transaction data.
  • Marketing consent: consent to commercial information when signing up for the newsletter.

SEO without promises

Every product and every category has its own readable address, and the Guides section lets us answer the questions with which customers arrive from search engines. The home page also has a defined title and description. Visibility on Google depends, however, on the competition, regular publishing and links, so we do not promise specific positions.

Technologies used in the project

  • WordPress and WooCommerce as the basis of the digital product shop,
  • a custom theme prepared for the Twoja Grafika brand,
  • Stripe as the payment gateway,
  • a newsletter and cookie banner with separated consents.

The result: a shop that explains how to use it

The brand received a website in which the buyer goes from choosing a template to payment on their own, and a customer looking for a visualisation or custom graphics lands on a separate page with contact details. We do not have access to sales statistics, so we give no numbers. The value shows in the organisation: ready-made products and individual services do not get in each other’s way, and each type of customer knows what to do next. It is a base that can be developed with further template collections, categories and guides.

Who this solution is for

The model of a shop with digital products and made-to-order services works well for graphic designers, designers, creators of templates, ebooks and courses, and small creative studios. If you are planning to sell files, see another WooCommerce shop from our projects: the online shop of the patisserie Rynkowa Bistro.

Frequently asked questions about a digital product shop

Can a Canva template shop be built on WooCommerce?

Yes. WooCommerce supports virtual and downloadable products, and after the order is paid the buyer receives a link or a file. In the Twoja Grafika project, digital products are delivered by email right after payment, and the shop does not need to handle shipping.

How do you combine a shop with ready-made products and services quoted individually?

It is best to separate the two paths. Ready-made products have a cart and a price, while made-to-order services have a separate page with a description of the scope, information about individual quotes and contact. This way the customer does not look for a “buy” button where a conversation is needed.

What payments does a digital product shop support?

In the Twoja Grafika project, payments are handled by Stripe. The range of available methods depends on the account configuration with the operator, so we agree it together with the client.

Should information about the licence and refunds be next to the product?

Yes. In a digital product shop the buyer should know before purchase how they may use the file and whether they are entitled to a refund. That is why information about the licence and refunds is on the product page, not only in the terms.

Does a digital product shop need a cookie banner?

Yes, if it uses cookies other than necessary ones, for example analytics or marketing cookies. The banner should let you refuse consent as easily as you give it, and link to the privacy policy. In this project the banner offers a choice of “all” or “only necessary”.

How to choose a platform for a digital product shop

Twoja Grafika is a Bydgoszcz brand that sells Canva templates, planners and ebooks as well as made-to-order graphic services. We chose WordPress with WooCommerce because it supports virtual and downloadable products, and the offer, categories and guides are managed from a single WordPress panel. When choosing a platform, establish: do you sell only files, or services too? How will the customer get the product after payment? Who edits the offer? Do you need a blog? With a few dozen products and your own brand, control over appearance, addresses and data usually weighs more than a subscription on a ready-made platform.

The second decision is separating the paths, because a customer buying a ready-made template and one ordering a flat visualisation expect completely different things from the website. A ready-made product has a cart and a price, while an individual service has a separate page with a description of the scope and contact, exactly as in this shop. Showing the licence, delivery method and refund rules before purchase reduces the number of questions, and you should have the terms reviewed by a lawyer. A broader approach to shops is covered in the article on using WooCommerce in online shops.

SEO for a digital product shop: from descriptions to guides

Every product should have its own description with a specific use, for example who the template is for and what the set contains, along with a readable address. Themed categories serve as landing pages for broader phrases, and an advice blog answers the questions with which customers arrive from search engines. We describe the principles of building visibility in the text on SEO for a local business, and the effect of speed on how a shop is perceived in the article on optimising WordPress website speed.

In a shop selling files, also take care of compliance: the cookie banner should let you choose only necessary files, and signing up for the newsletter requires a separate consent to marketing information. We do not promise Google positions. You can check the state of an existing shop in the free WooCommerce shop health check. Another shop from our projects, Uczciwy Remont, sells a report as a digital product after payment. See the services, work out a budget in the calculator or book a free conversation.
